What is Loganberry?? A loganberry is a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry. It was produced by accident in Oregon in the 1800s by James Harvey Logan. He had a casual interest in gardening. According to popular legend, he planted some blackberry canes close to some raspberries and the loganberry was born. It is a dark red or purple in colour; the berries are juicy and have a sharp flavour. It has been originated in Santa Cruz, California. It is available in canned, frozen and raw form. Scientific Background: Loganberry is the species of bramble of the rose family (Rosaceae) and its scientific name is Rubus loganobaccus.
